Marrakech- where you stay is part of the experience

Marrakech is hectic. And hot. And busy.

Where do you retreat after a long day in the souks? A Riad. In the medina. Don't opt for the big modern hotels located further out in the city. They simply do not compare if you are looking for to experience everything traditional Morocco has to offer.

The term an oasis of calm has never been more appropriate than when talking about Riad Dar Les Cigognes. This is truly a haven for the weary traveler. The minute you enter this charming riad you are struck by the silence, the calm and the cool. This intimate and luxurious Riad really added to the experience of Marrakech. You wake to the sound of water fountains and birds, breakfast on the rooftop terrace with a view of the city and the sun rising and within minutes are in the heart of the medina.

Within short walking distance to Djeema el Fna, the main square in Marrakech, this Riad offers luxury, style, traditional moroccan accommodation and food.

Pierre and his staff made our stay. They welcomed us into the Riad with traditional tea and cakes, explained the layout of the city and gave us a guide of recommended restaurants, bars, shops, museums etc. put together but Pierre himself. The staff here are incredibly helpful, friendly and professional without ever being overbearing.

The name itself 'Les Cigognes' means 'The Stalks' in French. Located by the palace walls where stalks make their homes, at sun fall you have an impressive view of the stalks returning to nest for the night from the Riad's rooftop terrace.
